A registered sex offender was arrested by Lenoir County deputies and charged with not notifying authorities of an address change.Joshua Preece, 45, of Lenoir County, was charged with felony failure to report a new address by a sex offender, said Sgt.Josh Garner, with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.18, Lenoir County deputies began an investigation after they received information that Preece was in violation of the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.During the investigation, deputies determined that Preece had failed to notify the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office of a change of address as required by law, Garner said.On June 5, Preece was arrested and charged by Lenoir County deputies, he said.He was booked in the Lenoir County jail under a $50,000 secured bond, according to LCSO records.Preece was convicted in May 2004 on one charge of rape involving a person 18 years or older when Preece was 23, according to the N.C.Sex Offender Registry.He was confined in prison before he was released in November 2004, according to city-data.com.
