Traffic stop leads to drug bust, arrests in Skowhegan, Maine A traffic stop in Skowhegan led to a significant drug bust and several arrests over the weekend.Skowhegan Police Chief David Bucknam said on Monday that an officer stopped a vehicle on Middle Road at about 9 p.m.on Saturday for not having a license plate and for having loud exhaust.The officer then determined that none of the four people in the vehicle had a valid driver's license.The officer called for help from a department K9 unit and K9 Reece indicated the presence of drugs on Sadie Macdonald, 30, of Fairfield.Macdonald was then charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs (fentanyl), and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs (cocaine).Louis Lopez, 51, was charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs (fentanyl), unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs (cocaine), and unsworn falsification.The driver of the car, Michael Griffin, 38, of Farmingdale, was charged with operating after license suspended, failure to provide proof of insurance, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.Police seized 91.83 grams of fentanyl, 27.37 grams of cocaine, and 54.06 grams of cutting substance during the stop."The drugs taken off the street continue to show we are in a war with the trafficking and using of these dangerous drugs.Not just in our town but everywhere in the great State of Maine.The Skowhegan Police Department will continue to locate these drugs, arrest the people poisoning our citizens and ensuring you can sleep safe at night," said Bucknam.
