Union Parish School Board member arrested, resigns.Union Parish School Board member arrested, resigns MONROE, La.(KNOE) - Union Parish School Board member Donna Cranford has resigned from office due to personal reasons, according to Superintendent Cathy Stockton.The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that Cranford was arrested June 2 on a charge of misdemeanor sexual battery.Cranford touched a musician’s genitals during a performance on May 23 at Enoch’s Irish Pub, according to the arrest report.The report added she attempted to touch the musician several other times.Cranford was not planning to run for re-election in November, Stockton said.She added that the district had not received confirmation from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office about the resignation.Once it does, the district has 20 days to appoint someone to Cranford’s seat, Stockton said.The Secretary of State’s Office said it has not received her resignation letter as of Thursday afternoon.Whoever is appointed would need to qualify in August, when candidate qualifying opens.Cranford has represented District 6 since 2019.Editor’s note: KNOE is choosing to show Cranford’s mug shot because she is a public official.Copyright 2026 KNOE.All rights reserved.
