Severe storms tonight and Saturday Damaging winds and large hail possible WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Severe storms are expected over parts of Kansas tonight and again on Saturday with threats of damaging winds and large hail. The greatest risk of severe storms tonight will be across southwest and south central Kansas. Storms will move east this evening and tonight with hail and strong winds possible. Wichita will have a chance of storms tonight around 2 AM, but the risk of severe weather should be diminishing before the storms get to Wichita. A strong cold front will move into the state on Saturday, bringing more thunderstorms during the evening over central and eastern Kansas. Storms that develop Saturday could be severe with a threat of hail and strong winds. Wichita could see storms between 8 PM and 10 PM. Storms will exit into Oklahoma Saturday night, then it will be much cooler behind the cold front on Sunday with highs only in the 70s. Spotty rain showers could linger on Sunday for parts of Kansas. The cooler weather will not last long as hot temperatures will quickly return by mid to late next week with highs in the 90s.
