'Chud the Builder' facing attempted murder charge after courthouse shooting.'Chud the Builder' facing attempted murder charge after courthouse shooting A Clarksville man known as "Chud the Builder" online is now facing felony charges after a shooting outside the Montgomery County Court Complex.A man was shot in the stomach and taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center May 13 after an altercation escalated into gunfire with the influencer, whose given name is Dalton Eatherly.Eatherly, 28, is known for posting videos of himself calling people racial slurs and flashing his firearm.More: 'Chud the Builder' charged after shooting at Clarksville courthouse He was also injured in an apparent self-inflicted injury, and taken to Vanderbilt of Clarksville Hospital for treatment.After his release, he was booked at the Montgomery County Jail.“It’s unfortunate that incidents like this are happening in our community," Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson said."This kind of violence won’t be tolerated, and our office will work to make sure those responsible are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.” Authorities have not yet identified the man who was shot.The incident marked Eatherly's second charge this week, following a May 9 arrest in Nashville over a restaurant tab.What is 'Chud the Builder' charged with?Eatherly, who had been at the courthouse earlier in the day for a scheduled hearing in a case filed by Midland Credit Management, was outside the complex when he approached the victim around 1:20 p.m.Eatherly livestreamed the aftermath.In the video, Eatherly can be heard speaking with first responders and recounting the events from his perspective.He says a man was pointing and laughing at him.Eatherly told first responders he approached the man, who told him to back off and that if he used racially insensitive language he would punch Eatherly.Eatherly's usual livestream content features him approaching people of color, starting a conversation which devolves when Eatherly starts using confrontational language and racial slurs.Days before the shooting, Eatherly posted on X that the "series finale" would be a person he described as an animal dead on the ground and "rioting when I walk free." "I will defend my life with lethal force, he wrote May 7."Do not approach me with intent to threaten bodily harm." In the video, Eatherly can be heard telling first responders that after the man threatened to punch him, he did.Eatherly then said he pulled out his gun and fired.The man suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach.Eatherly also shot himself in the arm during the melee, according to authorities.The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office charged Eatherly with attempted murder, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.He'd being held pending an arraignment hearing, where bond will be set, the Sheriff's Office said.Locals upset 'Chud the Builder' was not stopped before shooting Locals have long been raising the alarm about Eatherly and his content.A post on Sheriff's Office Facebook page announcing Eatherly's charges drew scores of angry comments."Note to the sheriff's office: this wouldn't have happened if y'all had taken the public's concerns into account the first time, and done something about him sooner," one read.Another voiced anger at the Clarksville Police Department."He's been saying he was gonna do this for a long time," the commenter wrote."Props to the deputies for doing what CPD refused to and getting him off the streets!Prayers for the victim who proudly served this country and for his family.I hope this will escalate to hate crime charges being added."
