Martha Wall Williams.Martha Wall Williams Martha Wall Williams passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, from complications from Alzheimer’s Disease.She was 90 years old.Born on Oct.29, 1935, in Cookeville, Tn., Martha was a star student throughout her childhood and discovered she had an eye for art and all things beautiful.She attended Tennessee Tech where she was a Home Economics major, and met the love of her life, Harry Kilgore Williams.She graduated from college early, married Harry and moved to Chattanooga, where Martha launched her career as a fashion buyer for Miller Bros.department store.Martha and Harry raised their two sons in the Summertown neighborhood of Signal Mountain, and Martha was a good sport -- pretending to love camping, canoeing, and hiking – all to spend more time loving her boys.While raising her sons, Martha also returned to her true calling as an artist.Through the years, Martha painted countless images, from beautiful portraits (many of which adorn homes across the Chattanooga region) to landscapes that highlighted Tennessee scenery, including various streams and forests along Walden’s Ridge and the Smokey Mountains, and her favorite vacation spot, St.Simon’s Island, Georgia.Martha was also extremely devoted to her community.A long-time election day poll worker in the Town of Walden, she was dedicated to the rights of others, especially the freedom for people to exercise their right to vote and have just representation in elections.She dedicated 30 years to this election day role as her civic duty.In her final years, she bravely battled Alzheimer’s Disease and was one of the longest residents of Ascension Valley Residence in Chattanooga.Her family is forever indebted to the staff at Valley Residence that cared for her every day for almost 10 years.Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Harry K.Williams; her parents, Herbert Staley Wall and Maude Mason Wall of Cookeville; and her brother, James Patrick Wall of Dothan, Alabama.She will be missed greatly by her two sons, Matthew (Kelly Nelson) of Fort Washington, Md., and Timothy of Signal Mountain; her nieces, Amy Wall Baxter and Patti Wall Robinson (Rodney); great-nephew, Forrest Baxter (Robin); and great-nieces: Grace Baxter, Molly Robinson Horne (Bram) and Evie Robinson.There will be a celebration of life with family and close friends at a later date.Please share memories and condolences at lanefh.com Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn.37415, 423 877-3524.
