SLED: 10th arrest made in connection with SC State homecoming shooting.SLED: 10th arrest made in connection with SC State homecoming shooting ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C.(WIS) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced the arrest of an 18-year-old from North Charleston in connection with shootings that occurred on homecoming night at South Carolina State University last year.According to SLED, Darrell Lee Goss Jr.was arrested Wednesday as the investigation continues into multiple shootings that led to the death of Jaliyah Butler on Oct.SLED said Goss was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, carrying or displaying a firearm in a public building or adjacent areas, and aggravated breach of peace.SC State Homecoming Shooting According to warrants, Goss allegedly pointed a gun and fired “into a crowd of persons” in front of Hugine Suites.The warrants also state he had “no regard for the safety of innocent citizens” and was “causing mass mayhem and lockdowns on the campus of SCSU.” Investigators said Goss is the second person arrested so far who was confirmed to have fired shots during the incident.The first, 18-year-old Matthew McCoy, allegedly shot twice at an unidentified male wearing a black and red hoodie.After his arrest, Goss was booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.Goss is the 10th person charged in connection with the incident, along with another person of interest.None of the 10 people charged so far, including Goss, has been directly charged in Butler’s death.SLED confirmed the investigation into the two shootings remains active and ongoing.Feel more informed, prepared, and connected with WIS.For more free content like this, subscribe to our email newsletter, and download our apps.Have feedback that can help us improve?Click here.Copyright 2026 WIS.All rights reserved.
