Roughly over 100 Nebraskans were in attendance Tuesday evening at the Chocolate Bar in Grand Island to listen to Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Lynne Walz at a campaign stop. Walz, the former state senator from Fremont began her campaign back in January of this year and is looking to become the first Democrat to lead the Cornhusker state since Ben Nelson. Walz told those in attendance her reasons for running for the state’s top position while pushing a Bi-Partisan message of unity saying that Nebraskans instead of focusing on deep left issues and deep right issues need to focus on the issues that Nebraskans can come together and make our state a better place to live. Walz also said she’s not just running for her party but running for Nebraskans as a whole saying that she doesn’t care whether you are a Democrat or Republican she wants to do what is best for Nebraskans. She also pledged if elected Governor she would. Walz says that the concerns that she is hearing from Nebraskans stem from things like Affordability, Putting Food on the table, Quality of Education as well as Economic Development to grow the community, along with keeping Nebraskans in the state with quality jobs and wages. Walz also took questions from the audience on topics like the Nebraska/Colorado Canal Dispute, Senior Living, Special Education, and Mental Health. The event went roughly over an hour with Walz also meeting with most of the audience afterward. State Senator Dan Quick of District 35 was also in attendance. CentralNebraskaToday.Com had a chance to catch up with Walz after the Event.
