Teacher sentenced to 40 years for sexually assaulting student GREENE COUNTY, Ga.(WKRC) - A former Georgia teacher was sentenced to 40 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a male student at a private Christian school, prosecutors said.A Greene County jury on June 11 found Bonnie Brown, 27, guilty of improper sexual contact by an educator involving a student at Nathanael Greene Academy in Siloam, reports 11 Alive.Judge Stephen A.Bradley sentenced Brown to 40 years, with the first 15 years to be served in prison.She must also register as a sex offender upon release, per the station.Before sentencing, the victim, now 19, addressed Brown in court and described the lasting emotional impact of the abuse."All you had to do was admit it," he told his former language arts teacher, according to reports from 11 Alive.Investigators said Brown developed a relationship with the student through Snapchat in 2023 while she was teaching at the school.The student testified that Brown's messages became sexual and that she assaulted him on two occasions during his freshman year.Brown was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in March 2025 following an investigation requested by the Greene County Sheriff's Office.The case follows the recent sentencing of another former Nathanael Greene Academy teacher, Sherri Mauldin, 66, who pleaded guilty to having sex with the same student.Mauldin was sentenced in May to 25 years, with 12 years to be served in prison.
