Authorities identify teenager killed in Lynn more than 25 years ago - The Boston Globe.Authorities have identified a teenage girl slain in Chelsea nearly 26 years ago, bringing a name to a victim long known only as “Chelsea Jane Doe.” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said Wednesday that the victim was Tiffany Bradley, a 17-year-old from Pennsylvania who was reported missing to police in Allentown, Pa., on Nov.“This is not a story about a case going unsolved for years and years,” Hayden said.“The story here is about an incredible 25-year effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to find the identity of a girl who had come to be known as Chelsea Jane Doe.” Several days after she was reported missing, Bradley was discovered dead in a parking lot at the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea. Her body was decapitated and dismembered.Investigators identified her killer, Eugene McCollom, within within a year, Hayden said.He admitted to killing the teenager and dumping her body in Chelsea. He was later convicted but investigators could not determine the teenager’s identity.Later, investigators created a composite sketch of what the girl may have looked like after they recovered a bag buried in the sand at Nahant Beach containing Bradley’s head, hands, and other body parts, Hayden said.Over the years, investigators circulated the image nationally and pursued advances in DNA technology in hopes of identifying her, officials said.A breakthrough came during the past two years when the FBI’s cold case team developed a genealogical profile from DNA recovered from Bradley’s remains, Hayden said.Earlier this year, that profile led agents to James Bradley, a Texas resident.A DNA sample confirmed he was Tiffany Bradley’s brother, Hayden said.Authorities added that tips received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shortly after Bradley was reported missing indicated she had been trafficked to the Boston area.Investigators determined those tips were accurate.Bradley met McCollom within days of arriving in Boston, authorities said.He allegedly took her to his room at the Lynn YMCA, where he killed her before leaving her remains in Chelsea and Nahant. This developing story will be updated.Hannah Goeke can be reached at hannah.goeke@globe.com.Nick Stoico can be reached at nick.stoico@globe.com.
