ROMNEY — A Freedom Truck, a mobile museum teaching about America’s history to celebrate the nation’s 250th year celebration, will be stationed at South Branch Elementary School June 29 – July 1, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. On the truck, visitors can expect to encounter original historical artifacts, interactive lessons, hands-on learning opportunities, a wall of American heroes, the telling of the founding of America, and more. According to the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ (a sponsor of the trucks) website, the mobile museums will, ‘bring history to life with inspiring, factual content, including digital and interactive material.” The website also states that ‘these key exhibits aim to make our nation’s history more accessible and reinforce patriotism among Americans of all ages.” The trucks were inspired by the Bicentennial Freedom Train of 1976, with the aim of inspiring this and future generations to learn more about America’s history. The Freedom 250 Trucks are also sponsored by PragerU, an American Conservative nonprofit advocacy group and media organization. Curriculum and exhibits for the mobile museums were created in partnership with Hillsdale College, a private, conservative, Christian liberal arts college in Hillsdale, Michigan.
