Kansas City hosts free pet vaccine and microchip clinic at Swope Park.Kansas City hosts free pet vaccine and microchip clinic at Swope Park KANSAS CITY, Mo.(KCTV) - The City of Kansas City hosted its third annual Pawsitive Protection day at Swope Park, offering families free pet vaccines, microchips and more as the cost of living continues to rise.The event, led by the office of Councilwoman Melissa Patterson-Hazley, was held in collaboration with community partners including Pet Resource Center KC, KC Pet Project, Union Hill Animal Hospital, KCPD and more.“When we have a housing crisis and rents are going up, utilities, gas, you have to start looking at what are the changes that you can make to save money,” Patterson-Hazley said.“And sometimes people surrender their pets.And so this is one way we’re helping families stay united.” The goal of the event is to help provide resources for pet owners across Kansas City and make sure the pets stay in healthy, safe and loving homes.Organizers say the clinic also helps reduce pet surrenders and ease pressure on local shelters by connecting owners with basic preventive care and resources.Copyright 2026 KCTV.All rights reserved.Join The Conversation We want to hear what you think.Create a free account to share your thoughts.Read our community guidelines here.
