People place flags at Wood National Cemetery for VA's Memorial Day ceremony.People place flags at Wood National Cemetery for VA's Memorial Day ceremony MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This morning people gathered at Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee for the VA's Memorial Day ceremony.People placed hundreds of flags at the gravestones of servicemen before the ceremony.The event included a wreath-laying, a rifle volley, a playing of taps and a performance of 'God Bless America' sung by the Milwaukee Children's Choir and the Milwaukee American Legion Band.CBS 58 spoke with one man laying flags at Saturday's ceremony, honoring the veterans in his family and so many others."It's really overwhelming, it's hard to put words to the feelings I'm experiencing.It's a wonderful thing to do as an individual, as a community.We have one of the most beautiful veteran's cemeteries in Wisconsin, here in Milwaukee, and I'm just proud to be a part of it." said Mike Pook, Milwaukee resident.The ceremony concluded with a fly-over by vintage military planes.The flags placed at each grave site will remain up through the weekend, before people come back to take them down Tuesday, May 26.
