Cannonball run raises over $86K for local charities.KUTTAWA — The 10th Annual Kuttawa Cannonball Run raised more than $86,000 benefitting local charities.The two-day poker run event in which boaters go to different venues and collect poker chips for prizes resulted in financial gains for the Kentucky Sheriff's Office Boys and Girls Ranch, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Lyon County Emergency Management, Trigg County Sheriff's Office and NPC Warrior Tannah Tuff.Event organizer Nolan Ferris said the run is a great way for people to give back to their community."They come here to have a great time, and most importantly, support great causes that these guys have put together," Ferris said."They have assembled and made an event here in Kuttawa that, in my opinion, is second to none." Ferris said the event had a large turnout of both local boaters and visitors participating in the event."To see the boaters, when you go down through the cut, and the people are lined up on the channel watching the boats, it's absolutely amazing," Ferris said."At the end of the day, it's all for a great reason." Ferris said there are misconceptions about the event that aren't accurate."It looks like a bunch of guys coming with loud boats and having a good time and creating a little bit of chaos, but it's absolutely the opposite," Ferris said.Instead, Ferris said the event is a positive environment that represents a fun and supportive community."It is a lot of people, whether it be guys and girls coming with loud boats, but they come here to have a great time, and most importantly, support great causes that these guys have put together," Ferris said.Ferris said the next Kuttawa Cannonball Run of 2027 is already in the planning process.
