Hammond officer accused of retaliating against cockfighting informant.Hammond officer accused of retaliating against cockfighting informant GULFPORT, Miss.(WVUE) - A Hammond police officer faces federal charges for allegedly retaliating against a confidential informant in a cockfighting investigation, according to court records.Denver Keith Golmon is accused of retaliating against a witness, victim or informant in a criminal complaint filed May 26, according to court records.He allegedly leaked video evidence and arranged for the informant’s arrest at his workplace on April 29, 2026.Homeland Security Investigations received information in February 2025 from a confidential source about illegal cockfighting operations in the Southern District of Mississippi, according to court records.Golmon was identified as a law enforcement officer participating in cockfighting events.His uncle, Bert Lester, was charged during a search warrant execution on May 3, 2025.HSI obtained a search warrant for Golmon’s iCloud account and connected him to distributing video evidence that was part of the discovery provided to Lester’s attorney, according to court records.Golmon sent government discovery videos to multiple people, court records show.In a voice recording, he said “I want everybody to see that it was this motherf―r.” He also said “Please whatever you do, don’t tell anybody where you got them from” and “I don’t want anyone to know it came from me.” On April 29, 2026, Golmon contacted another Hammond Police Department officer with the confidential source’s photo and information to have him arrested, according to court records.Golmon said “You wanna pick up a few illegals?” and “Don’t mention me.He threatened my uncle a few years ago and he knows I’m his nephew,” court records show.The Department of Homeland Security did not give Golmon permission to share that information or target the confidential source.The confidential source was detained by two Hammond police officers at his workplace.One officer told Golmon about the release and said “I guess, scared him real good at least,” according to court records.Golmon responded “Hahaha that means a lot.” The confidential source has been labeled a “rat” and has had to avoid Hispanic areas in Tangipahoa Parish, court records show.He received phone calls from people in the cockfighting community requesting in-person meetings to view the leaked video.The confidential source is concerned about his safety and his family’s safety, according to court records.Golmon’s access to law enforcement databases allowed him to obtain the confidential source’s real name and personal information.See a spelling or grammar error in our story?Click Here to report it.Please include the headline.Subscribe to the Fox 8 YouTube channel.Copyright 2026 WVUE.All rights reserved.
