Walker County, GA couple arrested on child trafficking and rape charges.A couple from Walker County, Georgia, was arrested and faces child molestation and child trafficking charges.David Rutherford, 60, and Heather Rutherford, 43, from Flintstone, were arrested on May 22.They were taken into custody on criminal warrants in Rhea County, Tennessee.The Walker County Sheriff’s Office received information about the continued abuse of a child on May 15, prompting a multi-agency investigation.Both David and Heather Rutherford are charged with trafficking, rape and aggravated sodomy.Shortly after their arrest, deputies executed a search warrant of their property, located at 102 Nancy Lane in Flintstone, Georgia.The Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Rhea County Sheriff’s Office coordinated to bring the two into custody.Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.“Due to the investigation still being active and out of respect for victims of traumatic abuse, we, at this time, will not be sharing any further details of the crimes committed against this child,” the Walker County Sheriff’s Office said.Other partners helping in this case include local FBI offices, the GBI, the Sexual Assault Center and Children’s Advocacy Center.
