Putnam Scanner for May 29, 2026.County Jail Five people were recently lodged at the Putnam County Jail.Monday • Caiden Gage Finch, 19, was lodged at the jail on charges of minor consuming alcohol and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.Tuesday • Kaiglynn Belle Harvey, 25, was lodged at the jail on charges of battery against a public safety official, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.• Michael Cody Oldham, 36, was lodged at the jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated/endangerment and possession of marijuana.• Michael Ray Strange, 48, was lodged at the jail on charges of theft.• Laure Lee Williams, 51, was lodged at the jail on charges of theft.City Police One arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers: • At 10 p.m.Friday, May 22, Jerad Gilliland, 43, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Jensen Clement following a traffic stop.Taken into custody at Warren Drive and Veterans Memorial Highway, Gilliland was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.At the same time, the driver of the vehicle, Denise Clark, 58, Greencastle, was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.One recent summons was issued by city officers: • At 3:20 a.m.May 20, Kayla Forrest, 35, Mecca, received a summons into court from Officer Clement.Stopped and Shadowlawn and College Avenues, Forrest was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.One recent additional citation was issued by city officers: • At 12:43 p.m.Tuesday, Naomi Williams, 28, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Justin Herd.Stopped at Indianapolis Road and Capital Drive, Williams was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.City Fire The Greencastle Fire Department had the following responses from Thursday, May 21 through Thursday, May 28.• At 10:22 a.m.Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 504 E.Seminary St.Crews arrived and found a damaged pull station which they corrected and reset the alarm.Crews returned to service at 10:27 a.m.• At 6:43 p.m.Friday, crews were dispatched to a fuel spill at 1107 Indianapolis Rd.Crews found a small fuel spill upon and it was cleaned up.Crews returned to service at 6:56 p.m.• At 1:28 p.m.Saturday GFD was notified of a motor vehicle collision at 821 Indianapolis Rd.Crews responded to a vehicle into a building at Kroger.Crews assisted with patient care and fluids were cleaned up from the accident.Once the vehicle was removed, crews returned to service at 2:03 p.m.• At 6:12 p.m.Sunday, crews were made aware of an appliance fire at 509 Illinois St.Crews arrived to find a dryer on fire in the back of the house.The fire was extinguished and GFD checked for any extension and ventilated the structure.Crews returned to service at 6:52 p.m.• At 3:26 p.m.Monday, GFD was dispatched to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave.Upon investigation, crews determined that the alarm system was activated due to cooking.The system was reset and crews returned to service at 3:38 p.m.• At 10:53 p.m.Monday, crews responded to reports of a downed tree at the intersection of South Central Avenue and Hanna Street.The tree was removed from the road and crews returned to service at 11:10 p.m.• At 1:08 a.m.Wednesday, GFD received word of a carbon monoxide alarm at 3148 S.Upon monitoring the home it was determined that there were high levels of CO in the home.The utilities were secured and firefighters ventilated the home until levels returned to normal.Crews returned to service at 2:35 a.m.• At 4:14 p.m.Wednesday, crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at 1215 S.Bloomington St.GFD cleaned up fluid and debris from the road and returned to service at 4:23 p.m.• At 10:49 p.m.Wednesday, GFD responded to a hazardous material release at 1019 Indianapolis Rd.Crews arrived to find an active CO2 alarm.the CO2 tank was shut off and crews monitored the inside of the building.The building was ventilated until levels returned to normal range and crews returned to service at 11:26 p.m.• At 5:38 a.m.Thursday, crews were made aware of a fire alarm at 24 S.Indiana St.Upon investigation, crews were unable to locate the cause of the alarm.The system was reset and crews returned to service at 6:05 a.m.GFD also had 14 EMS responses and canceled seven.At Information included in the Putnam Scanner is taken from reports provided to the Banner Graphic by the Greencastle Police, the Greencastle Fire and the Putnam County Sheriff’s departments.Individuals listed in the blotter have been arrested on probable cause and have not been formally charged.Charging information may change after an initial arrest.Questions about listed charging information should be directed to the arresting agency.
