Main Auction to hold final live auction before closing longtime Boise facility | ktvb.com.BOISE, Idaho — After nearly nine decades in business, a longtime Treasure Valley auction house is preparing to close a chapter of its history.Main Auction, which has been open for over 80 years, will hold its final live auction this weekend before leaving its longtime Boise facility and transitioning into a new chapter outside of the downtown area.Owner, David Wesely says the business has been a cornerstone of the valley for generations, hosting thousands of community members over the years.“Main Auction’s been a cornerstone of this great valley that we have. We’ve been here a very long time. We’ve had so many people attend our auctions and participate,” Wesely said. For many longtime customers, the location has been part of their lives for decades.“I’ve been coming here ever since I was like eight years old.I came here with my grandpa.I’m going to really miss it because it’s always been here.My whole life it has always been here,” said longtime customer Windy Manning.Wesely said growth in the downtown corridor and increasing parking challenges contributed to the decision to relocate.“We’ve sold this one.We are going to be building a new facility out south of town as soon as we get through the county processes,” he said.“It’s going to take us about a year to get there.” He added that the business will continue operating during the transition, including on-site auctions and estate sales.“We plan on continuing on doing on-site auctions, estate sales, things like that where we can help our customers liquidate things they need in their home, but we just won’t have a facility like this for a while,” Wesely said.Despite the move, Wesely said the decision is emotional.“It’s emotional. This is my life.I grew up down here and I’ve worked this business for 25 years. So to shut the doors and move is really hard,” he said. The final live auction at the facility is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.and will continue until all items are sold. The business is encouraging the community to attend and take part in the final event.
