Funeral procession set for fallen Jackson Co. deputy; Gov. Reeves orders flags to half-staff BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — On Wednesday, Gov. Tate Reeves signed Executive Order No. 1596, which proclaims Friday as a day of mourning for Michael “Mike” Jimerson. Jimerson, a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, was responding to a disturbance call at an apartment complex in St. Martin when he was killed in a shootout with a suspect. He was 61. RELATED: Sheriff’s Office mourns Deputy Jimerson; suspect’s criminal record revealed “Deputy Jimerson, like all of our men and women of law enforcement, represents the very best of Mississippi,” Reeves said in the order. “All of Mississippi stands with them as we honor and mourn this hero who has been taken from us too soon.” The order asks that all U.S. and Mississippi flags be flown at half-staff on all buildings and grounds of the state and all areas under its jurisdiction beginning at sunrise on Friday and ending at sunset in Jimerson’s honor. The route will begin at First Baptist Church of Biloxi and end at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, taking the following path: - Popp’s Ferry Road into Old Popp’s Ferry Road - D’Iberville Boulevard - Auto Mall Parkway - Rodriguez Street - Gorenflo Road - Quave Road - Brittany Avenue - Lemoyne Boulevard into Highway 609/Washington Avenue - Highway 90 - Main Street in Biloxi - Howard Avenue Immediately after the procession, all law enforcement, first responders, their families, and friends of the Jimerson family are invited to attend a celebration of life reception at the St. Martin Community Center.
