Caroline Kennedy Speaks Out for the First Time About Her Daughter Tatiana Schlossberg’s Death.Caroline Kennedy made her first public remarks about the death of her daughter, Tatiana Schlossberg, on Sunday.Speaking at the annual John F.Kennedy Profile in Courage Award ceremony at her father’s presidential library in Boston.Presented annually in recognition of acts of political bravery reflecting JFK’s book of the same name, the Profile in Courage awards went this year to the people of the Twin Cities of Minnesota and former Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, both honored for their resistance to pressure from the Trump administration.“Politics is a family endeavor, and I’m so grateful to the members of my family who are here tonight and whose support over many years has kept my father’s spirit alive and made this institution a living memorial,” she told the audience.“Most of all, we remember Tatiana, who served on the board of this library, and represented everything my parents stood for in her beautiful, amazing and too-short life.” Caroline, the only daughter of the late President and First Lady Jackie Kennedy, used the moment to welcome people attending the annual gathering for the first time, among them Tatiana’s in-laws, Garrett and Mary Moran, whose son George, a physician, was married to Tatiana.The couple had two young children together.Also in attendance was Emma Shriver, 21, a granddaughter of Eunice Kennedy, a younger sister of JFK.Ed Schlossberg, Tatiana’s father, and her brother Jack Schlossberg were also among the guests.Tatiana passed away on December 30, 2025 at the age of 35 after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia.Weeks before she died, Tatiana published an essay in The New Yorker that disclosed her diagnosis and took direct aim at her cousin Robert F.Kennedy Jr., who serves as Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Trump.“As I spent more and more of my life under the care of doctors, nurses, and researchers striving to improve the lives of others, I watched as Bobby cut nearly half a billion dollars for research into mRNA vaccines, technology that could be used against certain cancers,” she wrote.Her brother Jack, who is currently campaigning for New York’s 12th Congressional District seat in Manhattan, said he intends to honor his sister by winning the primary this month.“It’s made me all the more motivated, engaged, and focused on making the most out of my life, and I think that there’s no higher calling than public service,” Jack told Vanity Fair in May.“To me, I think politics is a noble profession, and one that I would be fantastic at serving this district as.” In an interview with CBS News Sunday Morning in March, he revealed Tatiana’s parting words to him.“The last thing that she said to me was, ‘You better win,’” Jack said of his sister.“No one knew me better, and I knew no one better than her.” When asked what Tatiana thought of his decision to run for office, he responded, “I can tell you now that she’s still rooting for us.” Rachel King (she/her) is a news writer at Town & Country.Before joining T&C, she spent nearly a decade as an editor at Fortune.Her work covering travel and lifestyle has appeared in Forbes, Observer, Robb Report, Cruise Critic, and Cool Hunting, among others.Originally from San Francisco, she lives in New York with her wife, their daughter, and a precocious labradoodle.Follow her on Instagram at @rk.passport.
