LATC Ag Students Gain Life-Saving CPR Training Through Corteva Grant.{KXLG, Watertown, S.D.} Future agricultural leaders at Lake Area Technical College (LATC) are entering the workforce with critical, life-saving skills, thanks to a $5,000 grant from Corteva Agriscience. The funding successfully integrated hands-on CPR certification into the college’s required first-year agricultural curriculum.Through the partnership, 65 agriculture students achieved adult and child CPR certification as part of their AGR 105 Ag Safety course. The vital training was completed just before students launched into spring internships across the Upper Midwest."Agriculture is a hands-on and, at times, high-risk industry," said Tiffany Sanderson, LATC President."Emergencies on farms, ranches, or in agribusinesses demand rapid response.By embedding CPR training directly into our coursework, we ensure every graduate is equipped to step in, take action, and protect those around them.We are incredibly grateful for Corteva’s shared commitment to safety and agricultural education." The AGR 105 course focuses heavily on practical farm safety, accident prevention, and emergency preparedness.Corteva’s grant directly funded the resources necessary to add formal, certifiable lifesaving techniques to that baseline knowledge."At Corteva, we believe strong communities are built through education, opportunity, and a shared commitment to safety," said Becky McGillivary, Corteva Agriscience Crop Protection Territory Manager for northeastern South Dakota and western Minnesota."By supporting programs like this at LATC, we are empowering students with skills that strengthen the agricultural workforce and improve the overall well-being of rural communities."
