Grand Rapids man pleads guilty in 2022 crime spree that included stabbing police dog during standoff | wzzm13.com.GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The Grand Rapids man accused of going on a 48-hour crime spree back in 2022 — including breaking into a home, shooting at police and stabbing a police dog — pleaded guilty Monday.Terry Junior Warren faced a slew of charges in connection with the crime spree.The incident happened on Nov.13, 2022.Warren broke into a home on Leonard Street NW while fleeing from police and refused to comply with police demands.He exited the home in an attempt to flee, fired shots at responding officers and retreated back into the home.A police K9 was eventually sent into the home, where Warren then allegedly stabbed the dog multiple times.Officers then entered the home and took him into custody.He faced the following charges: Nov.12 - Felonious Assault (2 counts) - Assault w/Dangerous Weapon (2 counts) - Felon in Possession of Firearm - Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder - Flee and Elude 4th Degree - Habitual Offender, 4th Offense Nov.13 - Assault with Intent to Murder - Home Invasion 1st Degree - Killing/Causing Serious Injury to Police Animal - Felon in Possession of Ammunition - Felon in Possession of Firearm - Felony Firearm (3 counts) - Habitual Offender, 4th Offense On Monday, Warren pleaded guilty to assault, felony firearm, two counts of felonious assault, assault with intent to murder, home invasion first-degree, causing serious injury to a police animal, felony firearm and as a habitual offender in both cases.The K9 officer, named "Eli," is a Belgian Malinois.He'd been with the department for four years when he was stabbed.Eli lost a lot of blood, sustained a punctured lung, and had major thoracic injuries.He had at least one surgery and blood transfusions.He was released from the hospital three days later to a crowd of police staff cheering him on.He returned to work in January 2023 and officially retired on May 24, 2026.Warren will next appear in court for his sentencing on Thursday, June 25, at 1:30 p.m.
