‘I want Chris home’: Family renews search for missing veteran in Washington County.‘I want Chris home’: Family renews search for missing veteran in Washington County Nearly a year after Christopher Jerome Robinson disappeared in Washington County, his family is going door-to-door searching for answers and urging anyone with information to come forward WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ala.(WALA) - A family is searching for answers nearly a year after their loved one disappeared without a trace.According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 44-year-old Christopher Jerome Robinson was last seen May 14, 2025, in the Saint Stephens area of Washington County.Nearly a year later, investigators say the case remains active, but leads have been limited.Robinson’s aunt, Paulette Canty-Smith, traveled from Las Vegas to Washington County this week to help revive the search effort. She is spending days going door-to-door, handing out flyers and asking residents to think back to the spring day Robinson vanished.“I just want answers,” Canty-Smith said.“I want Chris.I want Chris home.” Canty-Smith said her nephew is an Army veteran who had been living in the Philippines with family before traveling to Alabama in 2024 to bury his mother. She said Robinson is also a disabled veteran who suffers from PTSD.“He’s about six foot, thick build, dark skin, beard, goofy, knows everything but masters nothing,” she said.Investigators say Robinson was driving a Kia at the time of his disappearance.Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer said deputies located the vehicle in the Mount Vernon area on Easter Sunday earlier this year.Sheriff Stringer said investigators searched the surrounding area using cadaver dogs but found no sign of Robinson.Authorities say it remains unclear whether foul play was involved.Investigators also said Robinson’s bank accounts have shown no activity since his disappearance other than automatic subscription charges.Canty-Smith said the uncertainty has been devastating for the family. She said Robinson attempted to call her just days before he disappeared, but she missed the call.“It beats me up,” she said.“Every day I think about it.I did not answer that call.” Now, nearly a year later, Robinson’s family hopes someone will remember seeing him or come forward with information that could help investigators.“If this triggers your memory about May of last year — ‘I did see a dude like that or I did see something’ — get in contact with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office,” Canty-Smith said.“If you can’t do anything at all, please pray for us.” The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active.Anyone with information about Robinson’s disappearance is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.Authorities say tips can be submitted anonymously.Copyright 2026 WALA.All rights reserved.
