Affidavit: Teen suspect in Collegedale murder told a friend he had killed a rapist.Affidavit: Teen suspect in Collegedale murder told a friend he had killed a rapist COLLEGEDALE, Tenn.— An arrest report is shedding light on the investigation that led to a teenage suspect being charged in the death of a missing Collegedale man.Police arrested 18-year-old Kian Andrew Neal last week and charged him with criminal homicide in the disappearance of Robert Locke.Neal is being held on a $1.2 million bond.According to an affidavit our newsroom obtained on Monday, investigators spent weeks searching for Locke after his mother reported him missing on May 24.The affidavit says Locke was last seen May 21 after having dinner with family members.When relatives could not reach him and discovered his wallet, cash, credit cards, keys and cellphone still inside his home, concern grew.Investigators eventually obtained permission to search Locke's residence and later brought in a cadaver dog from Bradley County.According to the affidavit, the dog alerted on Locke's bed.The affidavit says crime scene investigators used BlueStar forensic testing inside the home and received positive reactions in multiple rooms, including the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.Investigators noted reactions on a mattress, floor areas, a refrigerator and inside a shower.Authorities later submitted evidence collected from the residence to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation crime lab.According to the affidavit, forensic testing confirmed DNA recovered from the home belonged to Locke.The affidavit also details how investigators were led to Neal.On June 9, police got a tip that a juvenile reported a friend had claimed to have killed someone, describing the victim, Robert Locke, as a "rapist" and saying he had disposed of the body, according to the affidavit.Investigators say they followed up on that lead and identified Neal.Don Schlender, who helped the victim's mother look for his body, told us on Monday that Locke didn't deserve his fate.He seemed nice kept to himself.The teenager who murdered Robert Locke needs to be held accountable it’s not right.He did something wrong when he was younger he got better recently, that was years ago.People forgive people.Me and my dad and everybody were trying to help Ms Locke find her son.Court records state investigators then learned Neal had been involved in a single-vehicle crash on Camp Road during the early morning hours of May 22, about 2.5 miles from Locke's home.After obtaining a search warrant, investigators examined Neal's vehicle.According to the affidavit, BlueStar testing produced positive reactions in multiple locations throughout the vehicle, including the driver's area, rear seats, trunk and several items found inside.The affidavit further says that on June 12, the TBI identified blood on one of the items recovered from the vehicle.Locke's body has not been recovered.Depend on us to keep you posted as this story develops.
