Longtime MSP officer retires after 31 years of service.Longtime MSP officer retires after 31 years of service UPPER MICHIGAN.(WLUC) - A longtime Michigan State Police Inspector who had served Upper Peninsula communities has retired after more than 31 years of service.Inspector Randal Danison graduated from the 112th MSP Trooper Recruit School in 1995 and was assigned to the L’Anse MSP post where he served until February 2010.Later in 2010, after a stint with the Eighth District Hometown Security Team, Danison returned to the L’Anse post where he was promoted to sergeant.In 2014, he was promoted to first lieutenant at the Calumet post where he worked until August 2021 when he was promoted to inspector and Assistant District Commander.During his time as Assistant District Commander, he helped to oversee MSP field services for the entire Upper Peninsula.“It has been a very rewarding experience for me to have worked with the amazing people in the Upper Peninsula,” said Inspector Danison.“Together, we all have accomplished great things and have made great strides as it relates to public safety.I am very thankful for the friendships and partnerships with all the public servants I have worked alongside of during my career.After 31 years, I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life with my family and friends.” The video above will feature the TV6 livestream until staff can clip the corresponding story, if available, from broadcasts or other TV6 content.You can subscribe to our YouTube page or download TV6+ to stream the latest local news and weather.Copyright 2026 WLUC.All rights reserved.
