DNR Water Violation Addressed at Bethany Council Session - Northwest MO Info.DNR Water Violation Addressed at Bethany Council Session Those attending Bethany’s Board of Aldermen meeting on Monday night were provided the information from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources regarding the notice of a violation of a drinking water standard and what steps will be necessary for communicating that violation to the public.The City of Bethany received a notice that testing results collected during a twelve-month period ending March 31st showed that the city’s did not meet the requirement for removing total organic carbon.It clearly states that in the notice that there is the city’s water quality carries no immediate risk and does not even imply that the water system has issues with disinfection byproducts.But to follow protocol, a public notification is necessary, and since the testing is done with a rolling annual average, city residents will receive several notices for the next few months of what essentially traces back to the same violation.George Hulett with People’s Services provided context of the violation.In addition to being mailed to residents, the violation notice will also be posted to meet the state requirement.City Administrator Jake Taylor emphasized after the presentation that there is no safety issue for the city’s water supply.During the City Administrator’s report, Jake Taylor announced that bids will be due for contractors interested in the work for the Bethany Police and Fire Department Building addition on July 29th at 5pm.Information on the work will be published every two weeks.A bid packet will also be sent to prospective bidders.Bids will be taken very soon for the School to Pool phase of the Transportation Alternatives Program which will construct a sidewalk between those two landmarks.The Bethany Street Overlay project is still scheduled for August, but a recent update has indicated that the project could be as early as late this month.Light poles for the Bethany square will be installed in phases.That work is anticipated to be undertaken in the next three weeks.Council members also approved Cinda Carter, Lori Luellen, and Karen Wooderson to new three-year terms for the Bethany Library Board.
