Risefest celebrates 20th year with mission to ‘take back ground’ Christian music festival aims for more than 25,000 attendees in Sheldon SHELDON, Iowa (KTIV) - Hundreds of people came out Friday, June 12, for a day filled with family, friends and fellowship as the annual Risefest Christian music festival got underway. As the gates opened to the public at 3:30 p.m., people raced to get the best spot near the Harvest Stage, where a lineup of several Christian music artists performed for the 20th year of the festival.Organizers said they were overjoyed to see how many people were out to fellowship in faith.‘Take Back Ground’ mission Rob Roozeboom, founder and president of Rise Ministries, says he hopes to have more than 25,000 people attend as it will help change history for the better.“In 1924, the largest gathering took place in our community, and it was the KKK,” Roozeboom said.“Ever since we learned about that, it just has gnawed at me that our community had held the largest gathering for darkness and division, and we’ve been asking God, could that be redeemed?Could that be taken back? And so we have been on this Take Back Ground mission for the last 2 and a half years to break 25,001, so we would be known for uniting, coming together, worshipping Jesus.” Roozeboom says the event is more than music as it allows attendees to get connected with the ministry and what they are doing here and abroad.Risefest continues Saturday, June 13, when gates open at 11 a.m.Want to get the latest news and weather from Siouxland’s News Source?Follow these links to download our KTIV News app and our First Alert Weather app.Copyright 2026 KTIV.All rights reserved.
