A Maryland woman has drawn hundreds of vultures to her neighborhood by feeding them raw meat, and she refuses to stop despite orders from the county. Feng Sun, who lives in a community near Columbia, started leaving out food years ago after noticing some of the birds shivering in the cold. At the height of it, she estimated she was putting out more than 200 pounds of raw chicken a day.
The birds now line rooftops and tree branches around her home, and neighbors complain about the stench of rotting meat, droppings dripping down their roofs, and regurgitated bones in their yards. One neighbor compared the scene to the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds." Sun calls the vultures guardian angels and insists they need her help. A judge found her guilty of violating the county health code and fined her, but she is appealing the ruling…and still throwing meat into her yard.
