Louisiana AG: 'State to join Alabama, Florida in investigating Fauci'
Louisiana soon will join Alabama and Florida in investigating Dr. Anthony Fauci, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said Aug. 1 in a post on X, days following a Senate hearing on the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Fauci lied. Louisiana and Missouri deposed Dr. Fauci," Murrill tweeted. "At the time, he claimed to not recall many key details of his own actions and now we are discovering contemporaneous records he kept. Louisiana will join Alabama & Florida in investigating Fauci and whether he committed any other offenses that could be pursued in our State records."

Fauci appeared before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on July 29 under subpoena but declined to answer lawmakers' questions after reading a statement in which he argued the hearing was to entrap him. He then invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination 111 times, refusing to answer questions.
Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, served as Chief Medical Advisor to the President under the Biden administration from 2021 to 2022, leading the country's COVID-19 efforts.
Prior to leaving office in 2024, Biden pardoned Fauci for any of his actions dating back to 2014. However, Fauci could still face charges.
Louisiana is the latest state to announce a probe into Fauci.
On July 30, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced his office would investigate Fauci following the hearing, while Republican Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville said that, if elected governor, he would pursue possible state charges against the former public health official.
