The Northern Shenandoah Valley Community Veterans Engagement Board will host a Heroes and Harvest Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Newtown Commons in Stephens City.
According to a media release, the free community event on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania will bring together veterans, military families, first responders, local organizations, businesses and families from across the Northern Shenandoah Valley to give the community a place to come together to socialize, celebrate heroes and support local veterans.
Attendees can enjoy food trucks, local vendors, bounce houses, a petting zoo, face painting, live music from Guitars4Vets, a dunk tank, raffles, family activities and veteran and community resource organizations, the release states. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Virginia Department of Veterans Services and several community partners are expected to participate.
Admission is free and no registration is required. Funds raised through activities during the event will benefit the nonprofit Northern Shenandoah Valley Community Veterans Engagement Board's Emergency Financial Relief Fund, which helps local veterans with urgent financial needs.
