FARGO — A truck hauling bison remains spilled its load Saturday afternoon in an Interstate 94 construction zone in Fargo, causing traffic delays and a cleanup effort.

At about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 11, North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers responded to a large debris spill on eastbound I-94 in the construction zone between Veterans Boulevard and 45th Street in Fargo.

A witness reported a semi pulling an open trailer that braked suddenly for stopped traffic, causing approximately 12 to 15 bison carcasses and animal remains to spill across the only open eastbound lane, according to the patrol.

The debris completely blocked the lane, and traffic was stopped multiple times while crews cleared the roadway and washed down the pavement. The truck hauling the remains has been located, the patrol said Sunday afternoon.

The North Dakota State Patrol thanks the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the West Fargo Fire Department for their assistance in safely clearing the roadway.
