Jamestown USND awards scholarships.The Jamestown Chapter of the United Sportsmen recently awarded three $2,000 scholarships.Applicants were required to have compelted at least one year of study at a North Dakota college or university, be pursuing a course of study in the biological sciences, and have compelted a certified Hunter Safety Program.Applicants were not judged solely on academic standing.This year's scholarship recipients are from North Dakota: Nicole Steele, Garrison, and Hadyn Schuler and Kendra Boehm, both Mandan.ADVERTISEMENT Steele is pursuing a nursing degree at Bismarck State College.She plans to obtain an LPN and continue on to obtain an RN.She has worked at the Garrison Family Clinic, as an administrative assistant at Garrison Hospital and for the U.S.Postal Service as a rural mail carrier.She enjoys camping, hiking, wildlife photography, trapshooting and fishing.Schuler attends Minot State University and is pursuing a degree in environmental science.She has worked at the Minot Gun Club, West Oaks Animal Hospital and Scheels and with youth, teaching the sport of trapshooting.She enjoys hiking, upland game, waterfowl and deer hunting, fishing and trapshooting and hopes to pursue work in the wildlife conservation field.Behm is pursuing a degree in radiologic sciences at North Dakota State University.She has worked as a child care provider and at Sanford Medical Center as a patient transporter and as an assistant in the radiology department.She enjoys horticulture, swiming and competitive archery.She has shot archery for 13 years, hunting deer and turkey.She is a member of the NDSU Archery Club.This is the 13th year the Jamestown Chapter of USND has appropriated funds for a scholarship program and has awarded $31,000 in scholarship aid.The chapter is dedicated to supporting young adults.
