Omaha felony suspect crashes after fleeing to Lancaster County
Two men arrested after pursuit reached speeds up to 100 mph
LANCASTER COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - Two men were arrested following a dangerous situation that started in Omaha and ended with a crash in Lancaster County Tuesday morning.
The situation began in Omaha before 8 a.m. when the Metro Fugitive Task Force was searching for 30-year-old Travon Green, who had multiple felony warrants. He was seen leaving a home at 39th Street and Ames Avenue and getting into a Nissan Sentra.
Officers tried to block in the Nissan, but he crashed into a law enforcement cruiser and sped off.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said investigators spotted the Nissan on I-80, west of Waverly, and a pursuit began, with speeds reaching 90 to 100 mph at one point. Green took the 405 Exit and turned onto Highway 77, where he crashed into a Jeep Cherokee and a semi truck. No one was injured in the collision.
The Nissan was totaled following the crash.
Green was arrested for his warrants, as well as flight to avoid arrest, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. His 31-year-old passenger was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm.
“This guy needs to be off the streets,” LSO Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.
The Nebraska State Patrol is handling the crash investigation.
