Maywood series covers birds, travel and invasive species this fall
SHEBOYGAN – Three free lunchtime presentations on birds, accessible travel and invasive species are scheduled this fall at Maywood Environmental Park in Sheboygan.
The programs will begin at noon in the Ecology Center at Maywood, according to a community announcement. Attendees may bring a lunch to eat during the presentations. Coffee, tea, water and dessert will be provided.
The series opens Sept. 8 with "Birds & Art Therapy," presented by Laura Griffin, ATR-BC, a retired art therapist at RCS Empowers. The program will examine the positive effects birds can have in people's lives.
On Oct. 13, Andy Janicki will discuss traveling with a disability and share experiences navigating outdoor travel opportunities and challenges.
The final presentation is planned for Nov. 10 and will feature representatives from the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership discussing efforts to address Giant Hogweed in Sheboygan County.
Patrick Siwula, Wisconsin DNR Southeast Region aquatic invasive species coordinator, will also speak about environmental threats posed by invasive species, according to the announcement.
Maywood Environmental Park is at 3615 Mueller Road in Sheboygan.
