Another prominent Republican heads to Iowa

The state drawing frequent VIP visitors in mid-term election year

DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) — U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins is scheduled to become the latest prominent Republican official to visit Iowa ahead of the November mid-term elections.

Rollins is scheduled to speak at the Farm Progress Show in Boone on Tuesday. Here visit comes less than two weeks since she came to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.

Rollins’ trip follows an appearance Saturday in Clive by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R - TX). Cruz, who won the 2016 Iowa Caucuses during his run for president, headlined U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson’s annual “Ashley’s BBQ Bash.”

“The state of Iowa is a battleground,” Cruz told the crowd.

A flurry of Trump administration officials has come to Iowa in recent weeks as Republicans try to hold onto majorities in Congress.
