Police standoff in Clay County ends with one in custody

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - One person was taken into custody following a standoff Thursday evening in Harmony, Indiana, just east of Brazil in Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with Indiana State Police and the Harmony town marshal, were called to a home in Harmony for reports of a drunk person possibly in “distress.”

Police contain situation, call in SWAT

The sheriff’s office said police tried to “contain the situation.”

The Terre Haute Police Department’s Special Response Team was called in, resolving the situation. The person was taken into custody.

There is no word at this time on what charges the person may be facing.
