Johnson County Old Settlers Parade returns to downtown Olathe, will air live on KSMO-TV
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Johnson County Old Settlers Parade returns to downtown Olathe on Saturday, Sept. 12, kicking off the annual Johnson County Old Settlers Festival.
The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon and will air on KSMO-TV, with a live stream available on KCTV5+ and KCTV5.com.
KCTV5 morning anchors Bill Hurrelbrink and Carolina Cruz will announce the parade in person. Several familiar KCTV5 personalities will also ride in the parade in convertibles provided by the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City, including Luke Dorris, Sharon Chen, Warren Sears, Stevie Stephenson, Sammi Boring, Miya Ingle, Shane Konicki and Kerrigan Arnold.
This year’s grand marshal is Bill Garton, a longtime community leader, World War II veteran and advocate for local education and civic service.
Parade route and street closures
The parade route will:
- Begin at Kansas and Loula streets
- Travel east to Water Street, then north to Park Street
- Continue east and end at Buchanan Street
Side streets along the route will close beginning at 8 a.m. for parade staging. Access to garages is expected to reopen immediately after the parade concludes.
The event will take place rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, updates will be posted on the Johnson County Old Settlers Festival Facebook page.
