Nebraska man who posed as a teenage girl online, sentenced to prison for child pornography charges
OMAHA, Neb. (KTIV) - A Nebraska man has been sentenced to federal prison after posing as a teenage girl online to gain sexually explicit content.
Federal officials say 29-year-old Collin Jerabek of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Tuesday, July 14, for the following charges:
- One count of producing child pornography
- One count of receipt and distribution of child pornography
Jerabek will serve a 360-month sentence on the production count and 240-months for the receipt and distribution count.
According to a press release, from about December 2023 through January 2024, Jerabek posed as a teenage girl on Snapchat to induce four minors to send sexually explicit material. Jerabek collected this material from the internet and sent those images to the victims to convince them he was a similarly aged female.
The victims produced visual depictions of themselves engaged in sexually explicit content and sent them to Jerabek while he posed as a teenage girl.
The press release also states that Jerabek admitted in an interview with investigators that he knew his victims were under the age of 18. The victims were aged between 11 and 15 years old.
Jerabek distributed the sexually explicit content sent to him by the victims to third parties on Snapchat.
“Any sex offender that targets Nebraska’s children can expect the same level of prosecution as Mr. Jerabek, which is to say the maximum authorized under the law for these offenses,” vowed U.S. Attorney Lesley Woods.
