2 men arrested in separate Mobile vehicle burglaries

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Two men were arrested Monday in connection with separate vehicle burglaries and thefts in Mobile, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Officers responded around 10:30 a.m. Monday to AIDS of Alabama at 4321 Downtowner Loop N., where two unlocked vehicles had been rummaged through and property was stolen earlier that morning. Investigators found and arrested Steve Cody, 60, of Mobile, in connection with the break-ins, authorities said.

Mobile County Metro Jail records show Cody faces two counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle.

In a separate investigation, police arrested Jerrett Cothern, 41, of Chunchula, on Monday. Police said Cothern unlawfully entered an unlocked vehicle in the 7100 block of Theodore Dawes Road on Saturday and stole property from inside.

Investigators determined Cothern also stole merchandise Monday from the Advance Auto Parts at 7285 Theodore Dawes Road, police said. Cothern faces charges of vehicle burglary and third-degree retail theft, records show.
