No end in sight for the hot weather
40/29 Chief Meteorologist Darby Bybee says there's no end to the hot weather anytime soon.
We saw record heat on Monday and we'll likely be right back in record territory for Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday is a Severe Day in the River Valley because of the extreme forecasted temperatures.
"We encourage everybody to stay hydrated... If you're thirsty it's too late. You should have already been drinking," said Rogers Fire Department Deputy Chief John Vannata.
It is important to recognize the signs of heat-related illness. Some common signs are profuse sweating and headaches. If someone is out in the heat and displays these symptoms, try to get them to a cool room and give them sips of water and a cool towel on the neck.
The senior population is one of the highest-risk populations when it comes to heat illness. If you have any senior neighbors, firefighters say checking on them during the hottest temps can help keep them safe.
Firefighters add not to leave pets in a locked car as they see calls for that every year.
