South Louisiana businesses and nonprofit groups recently announced the following promotions, new hires and resignations.
New Orleans
Emma Moppert has been hired by Jones Walker as special counsel. Moppert was previously an associate attorney at Taylor, Wellons, Politz & Duhe.
Alexandra Cory has been promoted to senior manager for outreach and partnerships at the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children. Cory, who joined the organization in 2024 as an outreach and partnership manager, previously worked as early childhood data manager at the Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana.
Brad Guilmino has been hired as vice president of finance and innovative delivery by the Port of New Orleans. Guilmino's primary focus will be the completion of the planned Louisiana International Terminal.
The Ella Project, a New Orleans-based pro bono legal and business development organization focused on arts and culture, named two new members of its board of directors. Travis Henry, an award-winning filmmaker, and Petr Verner, director of operations at the Jazz Foundation of America’s New Orleans office at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, succeed departing board members Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell and Anita Oubre.
Baton Rouge
Michael B. Victorian was named the new president of 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge, following in the footsteps of his father, Michael W. Victorian, who is vice chair of the national 100 Black Men of America. Victorian, an attorney with the law firm of Phelps Dunbar, succeeds Andre Harmon as president of the local branch.
Dr. Aleysh Alejandro was recently hired by Baton Rouge General Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she will care for patients at the hospital’s Bluebonnet location.
Dr. Benjamin Barker has been hired by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center as the newest member of its supportive and palliative care team. An internal medicine doctor, Barker will see patients at the center's Essen and Gonzales locations.
Brent Johnson has been named LSU's interim law library director while the university conducts a national search for a permanent pick. Johnson spent a decade as co-director of the Widener University Commonwealth Law School Library in Pennsylvania before joining the LSU Law Library faculty as associate director of public services in March.
The Louisiana Hospital Association announced its 2026-27 officers last month at its annual membership meeting. Edgardo Tenreiro, president and CEO of Baton Rouge General, will serve as board chair. Michele Kidd Sutton, president and CEO of North Oaks Health in Hammond, will serve as immediate past chair. Joan Coffman, president and CEO of St. Tammany Health System in Covington, will serve as the chair-elect and Jaf Fielder, president and CEO of Willis Knighton Health in Shreveport, will serve as treasurer.
