RHINEBECK, N.Y. — Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and producer Frances McDormand, who has ties to Ulster County, will join documentary filmmaker Robb Moss at Upstate Film’s Starr Cinema, 6415 Montgomery St., this weekend as part of “Close-Up Conversations” to talk about his film.
McDormand, whose credits include for “Fargo,” “Mississippi Burning” and “Burn After Reading,” will join Moss for “Close-Up Conversations” after the screening of Moss’s film “The Bend in the River” on Friday at 7:45 p.m. and Sunday at 6:45 p.m.
McDormand will also join Moss for a “Close Up Conversation” following the showing of his films “The Tourist” and “The Same River Twice” on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 3:15 p.m.
“Robb Moss is a beloved documentary filmmaker who has mentored generations of other filmmakers for four decades,” Upstate Films said in a press release. “Many of them
credit him as the key figure in how they think about story, structure, and the ethics of pointing a camera at real life. Robb is also a filmmaker of the highest order who is treasured especially for this trilogy of river films which follow the lives of five friends from their twenties into the seventies, a meditation on time, friendship and the arc of lived lives.”
Tickets for each screening are $11 general admission, $7 for Upstate Films members and $9 for students, seniors and current or former military.
