A former contestant on “Ultimate Cowboy Showdown” has been sentenced after a violent altercation in rural Kiowa County left another man with traumatic brain injuries.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, 43-year-old Ethan Patrick Treadwell was sentenced on Aug. 5 in connection with the January 2024 assault.
The OSBI said the altercation between Treadwell and another adult man happened Jan. 30, 2024.
Deputies who responded to the scene said they found the victim with injuries to his head and face.
He was taken to a local hospital and was also found to have suffered traumatic brain injuries, officials said.
The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office, along with the District 3 District Attorney’s Office, requested the OSBI investigate the assault in February 2024.
Treadwell was later arrested and booked into the Kiowa County Jail on aggravated assault and battery charges.
According to the OSBI, evidence was developed during the criminal proceedings and the charges were amended to include maiming.
A Kiowa County district judge sentenced Treadwell to 25 years suspended, with the first 10 years to be served in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

“Ultimate Cowboy Showdown” is a reality competition series hosted by country music artist Trace Adkins.
The show puts cowboys through challenges testing skills such as handling cattle, roping and horsemanship.
Treadwell appeared on the first season of the show and advanced to the final three. He later returned to compete as an all-star contestant in Season 4.
