Wyoming brings home 240 inmates from Mississippi prison as staffing rises

Wyoming has brought home all 240 inmates it had housed at Mississippi’s Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility since 2023.

Wyoming has brought home all 240 inmates it had housed at Mississippi’s Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility since 2023.

Wyoming has brought home all 240 inmates it had housed at Mississippi’s Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility since 2023.

Wyoming officials said improved staffing made the move possible. Staffing at the state’s penitentiary increased from about 65% to more than 83% after pay raises and an aggressive recruitment effort.

The inmates had been transferred to Mississippi because of staffing shortages in Wyoming.

Officials warned, however, that Wyoming’s prisons are now operating at full capacity.
