A former youth pastor for a Northern Virginia church was arrested on charges of “enticement of minors for illegal sexual activity” and “traveling with the intent to engage in illegal sexual activity with minors,” according to court documents.

From 1990 to 2002, Jeffrey Turner Taylor, 66, served as a youth minister at The Falls Church, where he allegedly “sexually groomed multiple boys under the guise of spiritual guidance,” court documents said.

Taylor, who now lives in Milford, Ohio, made his initial appearance in court on Monday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said that the alleged “grooming” included “sexual horseplay, probing inquiries into the sexual secrets and habits of boys, and detailed revelations about his own sexual experiences.”

Court documents said Taylor traveled with the “alleged intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.” He took multiple boys with him to ministry events located in other states.

Taylor also served as a youth minister at two churches in Atlanta, where prosecutors said he allegedly groomed and sexually abused a boy in his ministry there.

Investigators believe that Taylor’s alleged sexual grooming and abuse spanned from at least 1990 until 2008.

He is charged with three counts of coercion and enticement and attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illicit sexual activity and four counts of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Taylor is scheduled for arraignment in the Eastern District of Virginia on Thursday, Sept. 24. If convicted, Taylor faces up to 105 years in prison.
