For Grace Llames, switching to online school was initially meant to be a temporary solution. Instead, it became the change that helped her excel academically, rediscover her creativity and prepare for a future in medicine.
The Rio Verde resident attended Insight Academy of Arizona after experiencing medical issues in middle school and struggling with social anxiety in a traditional classroom setting. She previously attended school in Fountain Hills before moving online at the beginning of high school.
The commute alone made attending in-person classes difficult.
