Lyme man found guilty in Brooke Goodrich’s murder.A jury found Lance Goodrich of Lyme guilty Friday of second-degree murder in the shooting death of his cousin Brooke Goodrich in 2021, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.Lance Goodrich, now 40, was arrested in Newport about four hours after investigators were called to the scene, police said at the time.An autopsy showed that Brooke Goodrich died from a single gunshot wound to the head, officials said.On Friday, a Grafton County Superior Court jury found Lance Goodrich guilty of “knowingly causing the death” of his cousin, according to a news release.“We are grateful for the jury’s careful consideration in this case and for the work of our trial team and law enforcement partners, including the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit, the Orford and Newport Police Departments, and the New Hampshire State Police Forensic Laboratory,” Attorney General John Formella said in a statement.“We hope this verdict provides some measure of justice to Brooke Goodrich’s family, and we remain committed to pursuing accountability and protecting public safety,” Formella added.Share your opinion with New Hampshire.Letters to the editor may be up to 250 words.Longer opinions of up to 800 words can be emailed to opinion@unionleader.com along with a headshot.
