Bond increased for man accused of sexually assaulting multiple women in separate OKC incidents
Bond has been increased for a man accused of sexually assaulting four women in separate incidents over the past two weeks, including one witnessed by firefighters at a Lake Hefner walking trail.

Jeff Asare, 26, was recently arrested after an alleged sexual assault on the Lake Hefner walking trail on Aug. 12. His two other arrests in the weeks leading up to the alleged attack resulted in him being released.
Asare is currently in the Oklahoma County Detention Center, and his bail for the Aug. 12 sexual assault arrest was initially set for $75,000. On Tuesday, court records show that his bail has increased to $150,000.
Alleged Lake Hefner walking trail sexual assault
Court documents say Asare allegedly sexually assaulted a woman around 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12 on the path south of the Lake Hefner fire station.
He allegedly grabbed the woman from behind, pulled her down, and held her with one hand while attempting to pull her pants down with the other. During the assault, the suspect repeatedly said, "Let me get some," according to a probable cause affidavit.

Oklahoma City firefighters nearby saw the encounter and ran to assist the victim. The suspect attempted to walk away, but firefighters kept an eye on him until police arrived and detained him.
The woman was treated for her injuries at the fire station, and the suspect was taken to the Oklahoma County Jail.

Jeff Asare's previous arrests
Asare has been arrested multiple times in roughly two weeks for alleged sexual assaults.
On Aug. 1, police were called to Northwest 23rd Street and Classen Boulevard for a possible rape. Asare was arrested for sexual battery and indecent exposure involving two different women.
Asare was arrested again five days later at Scissortail Park for attempting to commit sexual battery.
Then, five days later, he was arrested again after allegedly attempting to commit sexual battery at Scissortail Park.
The district attorney’s office said it is reviewing state charges for all three cases and noted that these charges are recommendations that could be upgraded in the future.

Why wasn't he already in jail?
Although Asare was arrested on complaints of sexual battery and indecent exposure for the Aug. 1 incident and for sexual battery on Aug. 6, he was released from custody.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office said prosecutors couldn't track down victims in the first incident, as four of the victims are believed to be unhoused. In the second incident, the case was screened with a prosecutor, and municipal charges were recommended.

When detectives presented the Lake Hefner attack to prosecutors, they agreed to file state charges for the incident and for the Aug. 6 incident.
The Oklahoma City Police Department said officers are actively investigating the case, and due to the complexity of it, it is imperative that they examine every piece of evidence. They said it is critical that officers continue to approach the case with compassion for those impacted.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office asked anyone who made contact with Asare in recent weeks to contact the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Oklahoma County DA Office's statement
The District Attorney’s Office understands the public concern surrounding the recent arrests and allegations of sexual contact involving Jeff Asare, 26. We want to provide some additional facts about these cases.
The alleged assaults were initially reported as separate incidents, and at that time, the connection between the cases was not known.
On August 1, 2026, Asare was arrested after multiple women reported that he had sexually assaulted them in the area of NW 23rd Street and Classen Boulevard. Investigators have had difficulty identifying and following up with the four reported victims. Two of the women have not been identified, and the other two provided contact information but have not responded to follow-up calls from detectives. All four are believed to be unhoused. The case was screened with a prosecutor, and charges were not filed at that time because investigators weren’t able to identify and/or follow-up with the victims.
On August 6, 2026, Asare was arrested again following reports from two different women involving separate incidents near Scissortail Park. He was rearrested on the 6th. That case was screened with a prosecutor and municipal charges were recommended.
On August 12, 2026, Asare was arrested a third time following a report of an attempted rape at Lake Hefner.
Detectives screened the Lake Hefner case with the District Attorney’s Office on August 13. After reviewing the facts of the case, prosecutors agreed to charge that case as well as the two incidents near Scissortail Park. Those charges are forthcoming.
At the request of the District Attorney’s Office, Asare’s bond in the third case was increased to $75,000. He remains in custody.
