Iowa Senator meets with Attorney General nominee Sen.Grassley will lead the confirmation process for Todd Blanche WASHINGTON, D.C.(KCRG) - Iowa’s senior Senator and chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee will meet Monday with President Trump’s nominee to Attorney General.The President nominated Todd Blanche, Trump’s former personal attorney, to the position this month.He’s served as acting Attorney General since Pam Bondi was removed from the role in April.Blanche is expected to face an expedited confirmation process, though an exact timeline has not been set yet.Blanche will meet Monday with Iowa Senator Charles Grassley.The 92-year-old is the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will lead the confirmation process.Grassley praised the nomination when it was announced a week ago.“I’ve worked well with Acting Attorney General Blanche for more than a year and appreciate his commitment to transparency and support for law enforcement,” Grassley said in a statement.“Blanche is well-qualified and has shown his dedication to restoring law and order across our country.” Blanche has infuriated Democrats and critics who accuse him of still acting as President Trump’s personal attorney in carrying out acts of retribution against political rivals.They point to his efforts to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey and a now-scrapped proposal to create a $1.8 billion settlement fund that drew backlash from Republicans over concerns money could go to January 6th rioters.Copyright 2026 KCRG.All rights reserved.
