Broomfield’s Leap wins big leap in SBIR grant
BROOMFIELD — Pivotal Space Inc., doing business as Leap Space Logistics Technologies Inc., has been awarded a $93 million Small Business Innovation Research Phase III contract-modification grant through the Department of Defense.
The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the SBIR grant to $100 million from the previous $7 million.
According to a DoD news release, the grant is for “performance evaluation for resupply, integration and global expeditionary enablement and was contracted through Space Systems Command at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs.
Work will be performed in Broomfield and is expected to be completed by Aug. 29, 2030.
According to a post by the company on the LinkedIn platform, “The Space Force is betting on simple, fast, dual-use space logistics, and we intend to keep proving them right.”
Broomfield-based Leap, an aerospace startup developing in-space transportation and logistics systems to support the expanding commercial space economy, was named this month to BizWest’s inaugural class of “Startups to Watch.” The list honors 20 companies in the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado that demonstrate exceptional potential for innovation, growth and economic impact.
